NIDUS BALTICUS DISCUSSION: HOW CAN WE STRENGTHEN RESILIENCE IN THE ENERGY INFORMATION WAR?

Sep 9, 2026

On 28 August, Nidus Balticus hosted a discussion at the BŪTENT! discussion festival titled “The Energy Information War: Will the Baltic Region Win?”, focusing on the region’s energy and information resilience.

The discussion brought together public relations expert Mykolas Katkus, Artūras Ketlerius, Communications Adviser to the Minister of Energy, and Darius Aukščionis, Head of the Military Standardisation and National Codification Office. The discussion was moderated by Teresė Škutaitė, Executive Director of Nidus Balticus.

The panellists agreed that significant progress has been made in the energy sector in recent years, but that now is not the time to relax – we must continue preparing for potential crises and strengthening the region’s resilience.

Considerable attention was also given to narratives circulating in the information space. The panellists examined which public fears and concerns are exploited by Kremlin messaging and how such narratives shape attitudes towards energy-related decisions. The discussion also highlighted the importance of consistent public communication in helping people better understand the benefits of energy projects and their role in strengthening national energy security.
