Baltijos Lizdas, BC Žalgiris and LT72 are launching the Ready for Anything campaign. The initiative aims to encourage communities across Lithuania to prepare for emergencies and power outages. As part of the campaign, free practical training sessions led by experts will take place in ten locations across the country, while one participant will receive a special prize – a VIP experience at Žalgiris Arena and a chance to meet the team.
By the end of June, communities in ten locations across Lithuania will have the opportunity to take part in free training sessions with civil protection experts. Participants will learn how to prepare for emergencies and create a family emergency plan, what essential supplies to have at home, how to assemble a 72-hour emergency kit, how to assess their household preparedness, what to do during a power outage, and which solutions can help increase energy independence at home.
In an emergency, people should be prepared to take care of themselves for at least 72 hours before assistance becomes available. However, research shows that only 30% of people in Lithuania are prepared for crises of varying scale.
Lithuania is currently facing three national-level emergency situations, while strong winds at the end of April caused as many as 40,000 power outages. In the face of emergencies, people’s ability to cope without electricity, water, internet access or other essential services is therefore becoming increasingly important.
“Basketball in Lithuania is more than a sport – it is a community that brings different people together around a common goal. Just as a team prepares for every game on the court, we as a society must be ready for unexpected situations. Our community of fans and basketball enthusiasts is strong, growing and capable of making a real difference. That is why we feel a responsibility to launch this campaign and encourage each other to take thoughtful action – from preparing for power outages to building resilience against climate-related threats,” says Ignas Vyšniauskas, Marketing Director of BC Žalgiris.
The initiative will run from May 10 to June 20, inviting communities across Lithuania to strengthen their preparedness for unexpected power outages, natural disasters and other emergencies.
The campaign also aims to educate the public and challenge the perception that the state should be solely responsible for providing support during crises. Ready for Anything is a continuation of the Green Tribune initiative implemented last year.
“When we first launched this project together with BC Žalgiris, we wanted to find out whether sport could help us reach people and give communities an opportunity to discuss important issues. Over the years, however, the initiative has grown into a platform that strengthens civil preparedness, highlights the importance of energy independence and encourages greater resilience to crises. With LT72 joining the initiative this year, we are expanding the practical preparedness aspect even further – our goal is for energy independence to become not only part of the political agenda, but also a foundation for household security,” says Teresė Škutaitė, Director of Baltijos Lizdas.
Building energy resilience through education
During the Ready for Anything campaign, people will have the opportunity to strengthen both their knowledge and practical skills. An interactive test developed specifically for the campaign will allow participants to assess their existing knowledge of emergency preparedness and determine their current level of readiness.

The sessions will cover emergency scenarios, creating a family emergency plan, essential supplies, assembling a 72-hour emergency kit, assessing household preparedness, challenges related to power outages, and solutions for increasing energy independence at home.
Sports events and prizes
On June 20, the campaign will conclude with a unique event – the nighttime Green Tribune 3×3 basketball tournament, organised together with the Night Basketball festival. Basketball enthusiasts will have the opportunity not only to compete in an unconventional tournament format, but also to experience how being prepared and energy resilient can keep the game going even after dark.
One randomly selected training participant will also receive special prizes – a green energy home battery generator capable of providing electricity during a power outage, as well as a VIP experience at Žalgiris Arena. The winner will have the opportunity to meet the team and enjoy the VIP lounge while watching the season-opening game.
